Brother's Redevelopment Agreement Extended

During their Board of Trustees meeting, the Board of Trustees extended the professional services agreement with Brothers Redevelopment to end in December 2024. The Town has contracted with Brothers Redevelopment to administer Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for a minor home repair program.   

The Town of Firestone and Brothers Redevelopment are accepting applications from income-qualified homeowners who need assistance making necessary health and safety home repairs. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds have been depleted. This service is funded by the Town of Firestone and by a grant from the Weld County CDBG Program.

Firestone Boulevard Mill & Overlay Project

During Wednesday night's meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an agreement with Brannan Sand and Gravel Company for a mill and overlay treatment on Firestone Boulevard, between Cimarron Street and Birch Street. To prevent further deterioration of this road section, the area will receive a 3" mill and overlay treatment.  

The project is expected to begin on Sunday, August 6, 2023, and is expected to take about a month, weather permitting. To minimize the impact on drivers, regular work hours will be from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with some Friday night work possible.

Service Contract Approved for Traffic Signal Services

During Wednesday night's meeting, a service contract with Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. was approved for traffic signal replacement and upgrade services.   

Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. annually performs preventive maintenance inspections on all signaled intersections in the Town of Firestone. During this year's inspection, several issues were found, and this contract will address them and includes the following work:  

-- Replace all conflict monitoring units with new equipment that can be updated and properly serviced.
--  Replace the camera detection unit at Firestone Blvd and Jake Jabs Blvd intersection.
--  Replace all backup batteries at signaled intersections.
-- Upgrade and replace controllers at seven of the eight intersections with new equipment that can be updated and properly serviced.

--  Now Streaming! The Town of Firestone has a new and improved Agenda Center that allows the public to easily access agendas, agenda packets, meeting minutes, and now video of the Board of Trustees regular meetings. The public will be able to view the meeting live online at www.firestoneco.gov/Agendas. 

To access the live stream, users should navigate to the correct meeting date and click on the video icon.  The live stream will begin just minutes before the scheduled meeting time. After the meeting is adjourned, the video will be available to be viewed online in the same location within 24 hours after the meeting ends.
