Incident Update from the Firestone Police Department

Earlier today, Monday, September 9, 2024, the Firestone Police Department was contacted by the Denver Police Department to assist with an auto theft investigation.  A vehicle was stolen in Denver and the owner was able to track the vehicle to a location in Firestone.  Firestone officers responded to the location and came into contact with the vehicle which was occupied with three suspects.

As the suspects saw the officers, the driver attempted to elude and struck a Firestone officer as they began to flee.  Firestone officers initiated a vehicle pursuit, which went south on I-25, before the vehicle crashed into a median at Highway 52 and I-25.  After the vehicle crashed, all suspects fled from the vehicle.  One suspect was taken into immediate custody, while the remaining two suspects remained at large.  A perimeter was established, and the remaining two suspects were taken into custody a short time later.

Thankfully, the officer who was struck did not sustain serious injury.

As this is an active and ongoing investigation, further details will be provided as they become available.

The Firestone Police Department wants to thank all responding agencies that assisted us, including Frederick PD, Fort Lupton PD, Dacono PD, Weld County SO, Westminster PD, and Colorado State Patrol.
