Historic Waterline Replacement Project Contract Approved

During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a contract with EZ Excavating for the Historic Waterline and Roadway Replacement Phase #3, Project #2.

The agreement includes: 

  • Waterline installation and surface improvements on Berwick Avenue, between 1st Street and Granville Circle
  • 3rd Street surface improvements between Berwick Avenue and Granville Avenue

Work on the projects listed above is expected to begin in April. The contractor will deliver door hangers to impacted properties, notifying them of upcoming work near them. In addition, the Town will send out notifications to the public with additional details and specific timing.  Stay up to date on this project and project notifications here.

Downtown Development Authority Plan Contract Approved

During Wednesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a contract with RVI Planning + Landscape Architecture (RVI). This agreement will allow Town staff to work with RVI to form a Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Plan. RVI has 42 years of experience working around the country, and in Colorado. Colorado clients include Windsor, Fort Collins, Loveland, and Broomfield.

Town Staff, RVI, and special council will begin the process to form a DDA, as directed by the Board at the February 19, 2025 Work Session. The timeline of the two-step process is being finalized and includes determining the boundaries, holding an election to form the DDA, and establishing the DDA Board. All of these steps will result in a formal DDA plan to be adopted by the Board of Trustees.

  • The Town issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) on November 26, 2024, for the formation of a Downtown Development Authority Plan. Five sealed qualifications were received on December 19, 2024.

Property Purchased & Contract with Realtor 

At the January 22, 2025, Board of Trustee Meeting, the Board approved Resolution 25-16, giving the Town Manager the authority to proceed with the necessary steps to complete the purchase of the property located at 12623 Canoe Street in Firestone. Town staff completed the property inspection and found it in good condition. During the meeting on Wednesday night, the Board took two separate actions on this matter.

The first included, the Board approving Resolution 25-32, which approves the Purchase Contract to proceed with closing on the purchase of the property. The closing is anticipated to be on or before April 1, 2025.

The second action, Resolution 25-26, approved a contract that allows Town staff to work with Porch Light Real Estate Group, specifically Broker Kristee Lee, to list and sell the house at 12623 Canoe Street.
