Town of Firestone Announces School Partnership at Central Park

The Town of Firestone is excited to announce it will partner with Carbon Valley Academy, a public charter school within the St. Vrain Valley School District, to locate a new K-8 charter school in Central Park. 

Earlier this year, the Town issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking school partners to develop a future school site within the Central Park area. After a thorough review process, the Town selected Carbon Valley Academy as a partner that aligns with the Board of Trustees’ vision for expanding educational opportunities in the community and developing Central Park as a space that connects residents and is a community destination.

As part of a future agreement, the Town anticipates entering into a development agreement and long-term lease with the Carbon Valley Academy.  The new school will be fully responsible for financing, construction, operations, and maintenance of the facility.

Carbon Valley Academy serves K-8th-grade students at its Frederick campus and provides them with a strong academic foundation based on the Core Knowledge curriculum. The school currently serves 245 students and has nearly two decades of experience.  This school believes relocating to Central Park in Firestone will help expand its reach and better serve the growing Carbon Valley population.

This future school is anticipated to be approximately 34,000 SF and two stories, including 23 classrooms, a gymnasium, a library, art and music rooms, administrative offices, a full-service kitchen, and outdoor learning and play areas.

Initial planning and design work has begun.  As the project progresses, more information will be shared.
